THE FAITH SHOW
2025
Twenty-one bottles of soybean oil — a mundane, impure, non-virgin substance — are arranged inside a church. An evangelical pastor performs a ritual of anointing, consecrating them as sacred. The act subverts the logic of sacrality, revealing the processes that distinguish the divine from the profane.
The video installation is accompanied by mini vials of the anointed oil, offered to the audience, extending the experience and transferring the consecration beyond the ritual context.
Envelopes containing mini vials of anointed oil; sound composition (5’32”) with speaker; lace and light; mailbox; engraved brass plaque (20 x 15 cm); two-channel video (1’17” & 1’37”) looped on monitors
